Our Story
Kouchou — meaning "harmony of voice and body" in Japanese — was founded in Kyoto in 2011 by Dr. Yumi Tanaka, a naturopathic physician who spent 15 years studying Kampo medicine before bringing her knowledge to modern supplement formulation.
Today we operate from both Kyoto and Vancouver, with a team of 24 herbalists, biochemists, and nutritionists committed to making traditional Eastern medicine accessible, rigorous, and beautiful.
